What Comes Next? Predictions for the Next CEO of Twitter After Elon Musk’s Ousting
Elon Musk is the founder and CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink. He’s been called the modern-day Walt Disney for his visionary work on space exploration, artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles.
However, shareholders are concerned about his health after two recent accidents that left him with broken bones in his ankle and leg as well as a fat lip from a punch thrown at him by an employee who was angry about being fired. As such, some bigwigs within Tesla believe that Musk should step aside so someone else can lead the company into its next stage of growth:
Sarah O’Brien
Sarah O’Brien is a former vice president of communications and public relations at Tesla Inc. She was appointed to the position in November 2016, after being with Tesla since 2012.
O’Brien has worked on various issues related to environmental sustainability and clean energy production for several companies including Walmart, Best Buy, Microsoft and FedEx Office (now FedEx).
Chris Lattner
Chris Lattner is the former head of Tesla’s Autopilot team, who has been working on autonomous driving since 2005. He’s a bit of an odd choice as CEO because he doesn’t have any experience with self-driving cars, but his familiarity with the company and its culture could help him understand what it will take to get there.
Lattner’s resume also includes working at Apple as well as being a professor at Stanford University’s engineering school (where he taught computer science).
Jerome Guillen
Jerome Guillen is an engineer who has worked on the Model 3, the Roadster and all of Tesla’s previous electric vehicles. He was instrumental in developing the Model X SUV and its falcon wing doors.
Guillen’s role as chief product architect will likely continue to grow as he oversees future projects from electric cars to self-driving technology, which Musk has said could be included in Tesla’s lineup by 2020 or 2021.
Stuart Bowers
Stuart Bowers is the current VP of Autopilot Software at Tesla, and he’s been with the company since 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stanford University, where he also received his MBA. In addition to working at Apple and Google before joining Tesla, Bowers has also worked with firms like Hertz and Expedia on autonomous vehicle technology.
He may not have been an obvious choice for CEO because he doesn’t have any experience running a large organization—but that doesn’t mean there aren’t reasons why someone would want him as their leader moving forward!
Deepak Ahuja
Deepak Ahuja is a former CFO of Ford Motor Company, and current CFO of Tesla. He joined Tesla in 2013 as its chief financial officer, and has been there ever since.
Ahuja graduated from Stanford University with a PhD in mechanical engineering. Before joining Ford, he was an executive at McKinsey & Co., where he spent 15 years working on strategy and innovation for large corporations like General Motors or Johnson & Johnson.
