Labor Party Responds After Arrest of Doyin Okupe

Mr Okupe was arrested at Murtala Mohammed International Airport by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday. The arrest came when Mr Okupe was on his way to london. He was arrested by the EFCC for allegedly receiving N702 Million in illegal payment from public funds meant to procure arms to fight indulgence in 2019. He was convicted of the offense by Federal High Court.
Labour Party’s Response to the arrest
The Nigeria Labour Party has condemned the arrest of former presidential aide, and former immediate past Director General of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council Doyin Okupe. The Labour Party Campaign Council said it is wrong for any individual to be arrested without first being interrogated
He stated that following Mr Okupe’s statement of defence on the source of his wealth, he should have been invited to answer questions or defend himself.
