CBN Warning to Nigerians, Don’t Wait Till January 31st 2023 to Deposit Your Old N200, N500, And N1000 naira note

In a strategic implementation process to circulate the new naira note, CNB has sent a final warning to its users not to wait until the 31st of January 2023 to deposit their old N200, N500 and N1000 banknotes to their banks or local agents.

Earlier, CBN Governor Godwin Enefiele has instructed all banks to stop dispensing the old naira note. The CBN Governor said such decision was mandatory in order for the new naira note to circulate the country. Enefiele further instructed all banks to start dispensing the new naira note with their ATM.

The enforcement of the CBN Governor has generated a lot of reactions on the street of Port Harcourt. Our popular talk show, “Pitakwa Talk Your Own” went into the street of Pitakwa to hear from the people, about what they think about the new enforcement of Central Bank Of Nigeria.

Here is what the people are talking about the recent development.

“I like the new money, e fine for eye, but Nigerian Government suppose extend the time small, at least the end of February. Most of us are just coming back from the Christmas holidays, like me, Na yesterday I just return from my village. Waking up to hear about this enforcement and development is worrisome.

Another lady who requested to express her opinion about the recent development, said she is just coming back from the bank, were she went to open a banking account. She told our reporters that she doesn’t have a bank account but the recent development has prompted her to do so.

“Once my banking account is activated, I will deposit the old naira note into my account.

As you may know in a recent development signed by the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele directing all naira note users not to wait until the 31st of January to deposit their old naira note.

The consequences of not depositing your old naira note before the 31 January 2023, will result into a valueless naira currency, which means your old naira note will not be accepted in any market exchange
