Buhari Extends the use of Old N200 notes Till April 10

The president of Nigeria earlier this morning in a nation wide broadcast ordered CBN to still make available the old N200 notes to Nigerians till April 10th 2023

The announcement of buhari followed after an earlier apex court, which heard the case on Wednesday, was filled to capacity with a retinue of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, other lawyers and the governors of Kaduna and Kogi states, Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello, respectively.

At the last hearing, the Court had temporarily banned the implementation of the February 10 deadline of the CBN from making the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes legal tender.

The Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna states had instituted the suit against the Federal Government and the CBN.

Following the recent decision made by Mr Godswill Enefiele on the introduction of the new naira notes, has made a lot of Nigerians stranded with no access to their money, POS operatives has capitalized on this and placed huge charges on any individual requesting for a cash withdrawal.

“I dey confuse as I dey talk, customers way come, they only carry old money come, them say new money no dey for bank. Yesterday I say I no go collect the old money if any customer way come, my neighbor way dey sell with me, collect the old money, sell her market finish, me way stick to collect new money, because of wetin CBN announce, come make I no sell anything, see yesterday my vegetables come spoil finish. Abeg make Governor Enefiele and President Buhari help us, this matter tire us. 

Our reporters also confirmed that marketers are still going ahead with the transaction of the old naira notes, this is after the announcement made by the CBN Governor that all exchange of the old naira notes will stop on the 10th of February. 

Governor’s across the state has refused to consent by the decision made by the CBN Governor. The Governor’s said it’s a means by the federal government and CBN to put hardship into the people.
