Tottenham 1 v 3 Brentford Premier League Match Highlights
Harry Kane’s outstanding opener fired the hosts into the lead and they were the better side throughout the first half.
Brentford have put a major dent in Tottenham’s European hopes as Bryan Mbeumo inspired the visitors to comeback to win 3-1.
How Mbeumo and Wissa led Brentford to come back to win 3-1 against Tottenham
But Brentford roared back in the second half after Mikkel Damsgaard’s introduction. Bryan Mbeumo’s double gave Brentford the lead, with two well-taken finishes curved past Fraser Forster.
Yoane Wissa completed the turnaround, moving his side within one point of Tottenham who could fall out of the European places today.
Brentford were great value for their comeback, something Frank agreed with to this in his post-match interview.
• “I must say that our first half was not one of our best, but that happens in football,” he told BT Sport. “It’s over the 90 minutes you need to decide the game.
• “Second half, top. It was a fully deserved win and I’m very, very pleased with the way we came back (from 1-0 down).”
He was then asked about Mbeumo’s goals.
• “I’m so pleased for him. He’s such an important player for us and he works so hard,” added Frank.
“We know he can run in behind, we know he’s good at pressing. He probably hasn’t been rewarded with enough goals, so I’m pleased that his finishes went in the back of the net.”
Mason must have been wondering exactly what went wrong in that game for Tottenham.
• They were much better than they have been this season in the first half, but reverted to type in the second half.

“In the second half, they were clincial. Their chances came and they took them. Defensively poor on our behalf but you have to be focused and together as a team. I thought, in the second half, we weren’t.”
• “Goals change games. I thought we should have had a couple more in the first half and we played a good game in the first half,” the Spurs boss told BT Sport. “But it’s the Premier League, it’s a 95-minute game and if you’re not ready to compete for 95 minutes, then you’ll concede and lose the match.

Player of the match — Bryan Mbeumo
In the first half he looked sharp but in the second half he showed what he is capable of. Exceptional performance that is the best word to describe him.
• Mbeumo clearly looked to capitalise on Forster’s difficulty to get down low quickly, as the ‘keeper was seemingly not expecting the shot for the second goal.
• He took the equaliser excellently, curving the ball low past Fraser Forster into the far post before adding his second a little over ten minutes later.
Great impetus from the Cameroon winger to get step up to be Brentford’s main man, definitely benefitted from the introduction of Damsgaard connecting midfield to attack.
