GOV FUBARA DONATES A FIRE TRUCK TO FEDERAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY OF NIGERIA
Rivers state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has presented a fire truck to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria to service the Obafemi Awolowo airport in Port Harcourt.
The governor presented the fire truck to FAAN in the early hours of Monday, 4th September at Government House, stating that the essence is to ensure an effective running and upgrade of the Port Harcourt Airport terminal to the international standard of its design.
He also extended further hand of friendship to the airport authority, reaffirming the commitment of his administration to give all necessary assistance to the authority as his doors will remain open to deliver good governance for the state.
Leading the airport delegation, Capt. Mukhtar Yusuf Muye, director of operations, FAAN said they are delighted by the kind gesture of the executive governor of Rivers State, and by so doing has lifted a huge burden off the shoulders of FAAN.
He confirmed that with this development, most of the international flights will land directly in Rivers State instead of being a secondary terminal that it has been in the past.
Gist gathered that with the introduction of this fire engine, a milestone has been achieved that will not only boost local economy but also create more direct and indirect jobs in the state.
