BREAKING: Youth Leader Arraigned Over Attack On Rivers Speaker’s Residence

The youths were arrested and arraigned over attack on the residence of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, on Tuesday.
The arrest of the youths followed impeachment proceedings launched against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday.
The governor is accused of acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of his office.
The Assembly Complex was turned to a confusion theatre after fire gutted a section on Sunday night and the attendant drama that occurred on Monday morning with the removal of principal officers in the Assembly including Edison Ehie as gunshots rent the air.
Fubara had stormed the Complex on Monday to see the level of the damage and alleged that he was shot at by the police, an allegation the police said was being probed.
Ehie, whose removal as the House Leader was announced on Monday by Amaewhule, later emerged as a parallel Speaker of the Assembly same day.
President Bola Tinubu later waded into the political situation and met with Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon to resolve the crisis.
Eleven governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met on Tuesday and welcomed the intervention of the President while asking the political leaders in Rivers to sheathe their swords. The governors also said they would meet with Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja today (Wednesday).
