Fifa World Cup 2026: South Africa Beat Benin 2-1 to top Group C
South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana, secured a crucial victory in their World Cup Qualifier match against Benin. The match was held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, and was watched by thousands of enthusiastic fans. The South African team started strong, with Percy Tau scoring the opening goal just 2 minutes into the game. However, Benin fought back hard, and pulled one back, goal from Steve Mounie in the 72 minutes.
The second half saw both teams playing with great intensity, but it was South Africa who emerged victorious. Johnson Mudau scored on the 45+2 minutes , much to the delight of the home crowd. With this victory, South Africa now sits atop Group C, with 3 points from one match. Lesotho at the 2nd position with 1 point, while Nigeria at the 3rd position with also 1 point.
