AFCON 2023 Fixtures & What You Need to Know

As the AFCON 2023 commence today, host Ivory Coast will host Guinea Bissau. Ivory Coast staging the biggest African sports event a second time with Cameron winning clinging on the title in 1984. Nigeria finished second and Algeria finished third.
Commercial capital Abidjan will host 20 matches in two stadiums, Bouake nine, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro eight and Korhogo seven.
The opening ceremony will see Nigerian singer and song writer Yemi Alade will perform with her amazing songs.
VAR will be used in all 52 matches with 12 officials to monitor the matches. 26 referees were selected and 30 assistant referees in the tournament.
The knockout stages, draw matches will go extra time, then a penalty shootout if necessary to determine the winner.
If teams finish level on points in a mini-league, head-to-head records will be the first tie breaker, followed by goal difference then goal scored in all group matches.
