Resilient Senegal Beat Cameroon 3-1, Advance To Knockout Stage

In an intriguing football match, the teranga lion of Senegal beat the 5 time AFCON Champions, Cameroon 3-1. Goals from Sarr, Diallo and Mane gave Senegal the win. The Lions of Teranga are the second team to advance to knockout stage, after Cape Verde beat Mozambique 3-0 in Group B, as the first team to reach the knockout stage in AFCON 2023.

Senegal are the defending champions, and Cameroon are 5 time champions.

The Lions of Teranga doubled their lead from a beautiful display of passes, thanks to Mouhamadou Diallo who added his name to the scoresheet.

Andre Onana returned back to Cameroon goalpost, after missing their first game against Guinea in a 1-1 draw. Onana was absent because he had to stay back for Manchester United game against Tottenham.

Cameroon pulled one back, thanks to Jean-Charles Castelleto. Cameroon tried to level the game up, but the Senegalese team were resilient in their defensive position.

A third goal from Sadio Mane completed the mission for the Senegalese team.

This is Senegal’s 17th appearance in African Cup of Nations.
