Port Harcourt High Court Restrains IGP From Arresting NYCN Chairman, Others

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted an order of interim injunction restraining the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, from arresting the state Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Chijioke Ihunwo, and two others.

The others are Happy Bennett and Jinjiri Bala.

Also restrained by the order are Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, their subordinates agents, provides, proxies and representatives.

The court presided over by Justice G.O Ollor in an experte application filed by the applicants’ counsel, Damian Okoro, restrained the defendants from taking further steps in arresting, whisking away, detaining or infringing on the fundamental rights of the applicants pending the determination of the Originating applications.

Justice Ollor also granted leave to Amb Ihunwo Chijioke, Happy Bennett and Jinjiri Bala to serve the Originating Processes and all other subsequent processes in the suit on the first and second defendants through the office of the charge of Legal, Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department Port Harcourt.
