Artist sues Timaya for stealing song “Dey Your Dey”

A Port Harcourt Artist by name Mr Bright Nwala have filed lawsuits against Popular Nigeria Musical Singer Timaya for copyright violation of his song “Dey You Dey”

Mr Nwala filed a lawsuit against Timaya for releasing the song Dey Your Dey without authorization and without permission. 

Mr Nwala however reached out to Timaya on his Tiktok handle: https://m.tiktok.com/ZM6n8m7tK/ requesting that Timaya cease and desist from releasing the song which he has now released, because copyright in the song belonged him. Timaya turned deaf ears to the request.

In the lawsuit filed against Timaya, he has seven (7) days from the date of receipt of this letter:

1. You discontinue the use, distribution, reproduction, performance, sharing, streaming and sale of the song “Dey Your Dey”, which you released on Friday 20d February 2024 for being an infringement of the Copyright of our Client.
2. You issue an apology to our client for the infringement of his copyright, and publish such apology in one national newspaper.
