File Gov Fubara Edison Ehie SSG And HOS 1

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a hearing on an application to set aside the arrest warrant against the Chief of Staff, the Rivers State Government House, Edison Ehie, and five others over their alleged involvement in the burning of the state’s House of Assembly.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued a bench warrant on January 31 for the arrest of Mr. Ehie, Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter, also known as Rambo, following a suit by the Inspector General of Police.

The IGP’s lawyer, Simon Lough, told the court that the six men needed to be arrested to defend charges against them, including alleged terrorism, attempted murder, and the murder of a Superintendent of Police, SP Bako Agbashim, and five police informants. But, lawyers for Mr. Ehie and other defendants, Femi Falana and Oluwole Aladedoye, filed separate applications asking the court to set aside the arrest warrant as well as restrain the police from carrying out the order pending the determination of the case.
