Martins Amaewhule Overrides Gov Fubara, Enact Service Commission Law

The Rivers State House of Assembly under the leadership of Martins Amaewhule has override Governor Fubara to enact the Service Commission Law. This is now the second time Hon Martins Amaewhule will override the Governor to pass a law this year.

Recall in January the lawmakers override Gov Fubara to pass a bills into law.

The house has relied on Section 100, Subsection 5, to say that the assent of the Governor wasn’t required for the passage of the said bills.

The section stated that where the Governor withholds assent and the bill is again passed by two thirds majority, the bill shall become a law and the assent of the Governor shall not be required.
