NAFDAC Burst Fake Bottled Water Syndicate in Eneka
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC says it burst a fake bottled water syndicate this morning at Pipeline Road, Eneka, Port Harcourt.
Spokesperson for NAFDAC Cyril Monye said the suspects were using a hidden shop disguised as a pool house.
He said the suspects picked used plastic bottles and filled them with contaminated water fetched from a paint bucket while using dirty rubber funnels covered with clothing material as filters.
He said they also print labels of authentic bottled water products and put them on their fake products. Mr. Monye also said one of the distributors of the adulterated water who identified himself as Chibunna James was arrested, while the kingpin and producer is at large and efforts are on to track him down.
