How to Earn Blue Check Mark on X for Free
Users with big followings on X can now receive a free subscription and the platform’s famous blue check. This comes after X CEO, Elon Musk, overhauled the blue check system, limiting it to paying subscribers, which resulted in thousands of holders losing the feature.
However, Musk recently announced that accounts with over 2,500 verified subscriber followers will receive Premium features for free, while accounts with over 5,000 will get Premium+ for free.
These perks include reduced ads, higher placement in feeds, and access to X’s AI chatbot, Grok. If you’re an influential member of X, keep an eye out for a complimentary subscription, but note that X reserves the right to cancel it at their sole discretion.
Some users are interpreting Elon Musk’s decision to give out blue check marks on X as a desperate attempt to save the struggling platform. Actor Jeffrey Wright even went as far as to say that Musk is asking for help without wanting free speech to be discussed on his platform.
Since Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in 2022, the platform’s advertising business has taken a hit, leading to a decline in content moderation. In an effort to improve advertising income, X has appointed Kylie McRoberts as the new head of safety. Although industry metrics report a decline in X users since Musk’s ownership, the company claims that there has been an increase in activity on the site.
