EFCC Issues 26 Fresh Count Charges on Godwin Emefiele
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a fresh 26-count charge against Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The charges include abuse of office, receiving gratification, and corrupt practices. Emefiele is accused of misusing his position to allocate billions of dollars in foreign exchange and receiving millions in bribes.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case has been adjourned to April 11 for ruling on bail applications and commencement of trial. The case is being heard by Justice Rahman Oshodi at the Lagos High Court in Ikeja.
