Gov. Fubara launches health insurance contributory scheme

Governor Fubara has indeed launched the Rivers State Health Insurance Scheme, also known as the State’s Contributory Health Insurance Protection Programme (CHIPP). This significant event took place on April 15, 2024, marking a milestone in the state’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to its residents. The scheme aims to offer households a measure of financial protection against healthcare costs and to resolve the issue of inequality in the provision of available healthcare services.

Governor Fubara, along with his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, were the first to be enrolled in the scheme, emphasizing their dedication to inclusive and equitable healthcare access for the people of the state. The governor has urged managers of the scheme to be unbiased while administering it, ensuring that the most vulnerable in society are not deprived of critical healthcare services.
