Cubana Chief Priest Arrive Lagos Court For Trial On Naira Abuse

Cubana Chief Priest, the nightlife entrepreneur and social media personality, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Lagos for his trial on charges of naira abuse. This legal proceeding comes after allegations surfaced that he tampered with and sprayed the Nigerian currency, the Naira, during a social event in February 2024, which is considered an offense under the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Okechukwu Pascal, is facing a three-count charge for allegedly abusing the Naira by spraying it during a social event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting the case, and the trial is set to commence under Justice Kehinde Ogundare.

The charges against Cubana Chief Priest are not only for the recent event in February but also include similar actions from a social event in Lagos in 2020 and another incident in January 2024. These charges are based on the legal provisions that prohibit the tampering and defacing of the nation’s currency.

The trial of Cubana Chief Priest has garnered significant attention on social media and news outlets, with many expressing their opinions on the matter. This legal development also follows a recent conviction of a popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye (also known as Bobrisky), on similar charges.

As the trial unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the court handles this high-profile case and what implications it may have on the broader issue of naira abuse in Nigeria.
