JAMB orders arrest of parents found at CBT centres
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decided to turn the tables on overprotective parents by ordering the arrest of any parent found lurking near Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres during the 2024 UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination). It’s like they’re saying, “No more helicopter parenting, folks!”
This directive was given in a virtual briefing with CBT centre owners, with JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede emphasizing the need to curb parental interference during the examination. It seems some parents have been getting a bit too involved in their children’s academic pursuits, to the point of disrupting exam proceedings.
To enforce this new rule, security personnel will be working closely with CBT centres to apprehend any meddling parents. This is no laughing matter, as JAMB has even mandated that UTME candidates must be at least 17 years old. So, if you’re thinking about sneaking your younger sibling into the exam hall, think again!
Despite these strict measures, JAMB has made meticulous arrangements for the 2024 UTME, with over 700 CBT centres nationwide. However, they’ve warned of possible technical glitches. So, if you’re planning on taking the exam, make sure to have a backup plan (and maybe a good book to read while you wait).
In conclusion, JAMB is taking a firm stance on maintaining the integrity of the UTME, and they’re not afraid to enlist the help of law enforcement to do so. It’s a brave new world out there, folks, and it looks like JAMB is leading the charge.
