Nigerian Navy Training Command Moves To Onne

The Nigerian Navy has made a significant move by relocating its Training Command headquarters from Lagos to Onne in Rivers state. The announcement was made by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, during a courtesy visit to the Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara. This strategic decision was part of the Navy’s plan to move facilities to areas where they have enough space to carry out their duties effectively.

The relocation was made possible by the donation of two schools in the state: the Ambassador Nne Krukrubo Model Secondary School at Eleme in the Eleme local government area and the Model Secondary School at Egbelu in the Oyigbo local government area. The Nigerian Navy has renovated the school at Eleme to serve as the new headquarters for the Naval Training Command. The move is set to take effect immediately, marking a significant shift in the Navy’s operations.

This relocation aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s strategic plan to ensure that their training command is located in a state with ample space to facilitate their duties. The move to Onne in Rivers state provides the Nigerian Navy with the necessary resources and space to carry out their training operations efficiently.

The Naval Training Command is responsible for the development and training of Naval personnel on core professional, mission, and operational requirements of a modern Navy. The Command has refitted its infrastructure and deployed technology and well-engaged personnel to bring efficiency and effectiveness to its training operations.

This move demonstrates the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to ensuring its personnel are trained to the highest standards and are equipped with the necessary skills to meet the evolving security challenges in Nigeria’s maritime domain and the littorals.
