Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation Declared ‘Delinquent,’ Ordered to Stop Soliciting or Spending

The Archewell Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has been declared “delinquent” by the state of California due to issues related to its annual registration fees and reports. This status prohibits the foundation from engaging in fundraising or spending activities until the issue is resolved.

The foundation was notified of its delinquent status on May 3, 2024, by California Attorney General Rob Bonta. The notice stated that the foundation had either failed to submit required annual report(s) or renewal fees, thus placing it in a delinquent status. According to a source close to the Archewell Foundation, the organization had submitted the necessary fees and reports on time, but a physical check sent to the California Attorney General’s Office was never received. The foundation has since sent a new check to rectify the issue.

In response to the news of its delinquent status, the Archewell Foundation has expressed confidence that the issue will be quickly resolved. A spokesperson for the foundation indicated that they expect the matter to be resolved within a matter of days once the new check is received by the Attorney General’s Office.

This development comes shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle completed a successful trip to Nigeria, where they engaged in various charitable activities and events. Despite the foundation’s current status, it remains committed to its mission of “uplifting and uniting communities” through acts of service and compassion.
