Junior Pope’s Final Act: A Farewell By The Riverbanks

Junior Pope, born John Odonwodo, was a beloved Nollywood actor who tragically lost his life in a devastating boat accident on April 10, 2024, alongside four others. The incident occurred while returning from a movie shoot on the Anam River, near Anambra State.

The 43-year-old actor was laid to rest in his hometown of Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, in Nsukka, Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. The final funeral rites took place at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish, Ukehe, Enugu State, on May 17, 2024.

The funeral service was attended by numerous Nollywood personalities, friends, family, and fans, all gathered to pay their respects and mourn the loss of a talented actor and cherished friend. Junior Pope’s children, wife, mother, sister, and friends were present, visibly grief-stricken as they bid their final farewell.

Junior Pope’s untimely demise has left a void in the Nigerian film industry and the hearts of his loved ones. His contributions to Nollywood will be remembered and celebrated, as he takes his eternal journey by the riverbanks.
