What We Know on Mohbad Autopsy Report
On September 12, 2023, the Nigerian music industry was shaken by the tragic death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The circumstances surrounding his death have been a source of significant public interest and concern. In response to this, an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of his untimely passing.
The autopsy was carried out and completed on September 21, 2023. However, the results were inconclusive, as the body’s advanced decomposition made it impossible to ascertain the exact cause of death. This was attributed to the fact that the autopsy was conducted several days after Mohbad’s burial, a delay that allowed decomposition to set in.
During the coroner’s inquest on May 15, 2024, a forensic scientist and pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof. Abiodun Osiyemi, provided further insights. He explained that the autopsy’s inability to determine the cause of death was also due to the administration of certain drugs to Mohbad before his death. These factors combined to render the autopsy results inconclusive.
In addition to the autopsy results, the pathologist also debunked several rumors and claims surrounding Mohbad’s death. He clarified that there was no evidence of strangulation or poisoning, and the appearance of redness in the coffin was due to a mixture of rainwater and soil, not fresh blood.
