Emery Extends Aston Villa Stays, Secures Champions League

Unai Emery Signs On For Long Term Villa Success

Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, has extended his contract with the club until 2029, securing Aston Villa’s future in the Champions League. This new deal comes after Emery led the team to their first Champions League qualification in over 40 years. The extension comes as a reward for his outstanding work in transforming the team’s fortunes since joining in October 2022, when the club was just three points above the relegation zone.

Emery has a strong reputation in football, having previously won the Europa League four times with Sevilla and Villarreal, as well as Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain. His experience in the Premier League, having managed Arsenal from 2018-19, has also been instrumental in his success at Aston Villa.

Since Emery’s arrival, Aston Villa has seen a remarkable turnaround, finishing fourth in the Premier League and securing Champions League qualification for the first time since 1982/83. This achievement is a testament to Emery’s leadership and the club’s ambitious plans for the future.

In addition to their league success, Aston Villa is also competing in the Europa Conference League semi-finals against Olympiacos. The club’s owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, have expressed their delight at securing Emery’s services for the long term, stating that they are building something special at Aston Villa with Emery at its core.

The new contract, which was officially announced on May 27, 2024, extends Emery’s existing deal by five years, reflecting the club’s confidence in his ability to lead Aston Villa to further success in both domestic and European competitions.
