Why TikTok, Instagram and Facebook Banned Influencers Saida Boj

Saida Boj, a prominent social media influencer known for her vibrant and engaging content on lifestyle, fashion, and motivational themes, has been banned from TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. This action followed a wave of backlash after she made controversial remarks during an interview on the podcast “The Honest Bunch,” hosted by media personality Nedu and his co-podcasters.

During the interview, Saida Boj made several contentious remarks that ignited public outrage. She admitted to “billing a man 24 hours” after meeting him, suggesting she gauges a man’s financial capacity by requesting money from him within a day of their initial conversation. She further provoked backlash by stating that a man could sleep with her within five days for a sum of N20 million.

These statements led to a significant backlash on social media, with many users criticizing her views on dating and financial assistance from men. This outcry escalated, leading to her accounts on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook being deactivated. Before the ban, her TikTok profile had amassed approximately 1.3 million followers.

Saida Boj’s reaction to the bans was nonchalant. She posted on social media, “Na today them done Dey block this account?” suggesting that she was not surprised by the actions taken against her accounts.

The ban on Saida Boj’s social media accounts has sparked a debate on the power of social media platforms in regulating content and the responsibility of influencers in their public statements. Some argue that the bans are a necessary step to prevent the spread of harmful or controversial views, while others view it as an infringement on free speech.
