Meghan McCain says Jennifer Lopez was ‘deeply unpleasant’ on “The View”: ‘She was not nice’

Meghan McCain recently made headlines for her comments about Jennifer Lopez on her podcast, Citizen McCain. During the episode, McCain discussed her experience with Lopez on The View, where McCain was a co-host from 2017 to 2021.
McCain claimed that Lopez was “deeply unpleasant” during her appearance on the show. She mentioned that Lopez had a large entourage, including a staff member who was constantly touching her up backstage and holding a mirror with lights. McCain also alleged that after she posted a TikTok video expressing that Lopez was not her favorite guest to interview on The View, Lopez targeted the post and had it taken down.
McCain’s cohost, Miranda Wilkins, and guest Carlos King, who is a fan of Lopez, also discussed Lopez’s current career status. They noted that her career took a hit in 2024, with her latest album This Is Me… Now only spending one week on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 38, despite strong streaming numbers for her Netflix film Atlas.
The podcast episode sparked a variety of reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with McCain’s assessment of Lopez and others criticizing her for making negative comments about a fellow celebrity.
“I was a host at The View, she was not nice. You don’t always have to be so nice, but it was surprising that people like Kim Kardashian couldn’t be more delightful,” McCain says. “When you’re coming on a show for a 10-minute segment… just fake it till you make it for 10 f—ing minutes.”
King tells McCain and Wilkins that he’s a “huge” J.Lo fan and that the conversation has him “gagging.” King says he also met her in the past, back in her early success days while she was promoting her 2001 single “I’m Real” with Ja Rule.
“She was so nice, and she didn’t have a big entourage. Now look, I’m not a dummy. She has since became, like, this global superstar,” King says. “Megan knows I love Vegas. I went to see J.Lo in Vegas and — top 5 shows I’ve ever been to in my life… She performed and danced for 90 minutes straight — no break. She’s a hard worker, and I was shocked that people weren’t buying the tickets.”
