Finidi George Quit Amid Player Disrespect
According to the grapevine, Finidi had a bit of a spat with Victor Osimhen, the Napoli striker and Nigeria’s poster boy. Finidi allegedly accused Osimhen of pulling a disappearing act from the national team due to some minor injuries, which didn’t sit well with our boy Victor.
Osimhen wasn’t about to take this lying down. He took to Instagram, in a fiery live session, to declare that he’d lost all respect for Finidi. He even claimed to have receipts—video evidence of their conversations—to back up his side of the story. Talk about bringing receipts to a social media beef!
Now, here’s where it gets even juicier. Finidi’s resignation came hot on the heels of a not-so-stellar performance by the Super Eagles in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They managed to scrape a draw against South Africa and then got their butts handed to them by lowly Benin. Ouch.
But wait, there’s more! Reports suggest that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had plans to bring in a foreign “technical adviser” to work alongside Finidi, without even giving him a heads-up. Talk about a lack of communication, right?
In the midst of all this drama, there’s been a whole lot of finger-pointing and blame-shifting going on. Some folks are saying that Finidi wasn’t quite ready for the big leagues as a head coach, while others are calling out Osimhen for being disrespectful.
