New Inaugurated CTC Chairmen Denied Access to Council Secretariat

The newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee Chairmen (CTC) in Rivers State were denied access to their offices in the Local Government Council Secretariats. This situation arose after Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s directive that the chairmen could operate from anywhere if they were unable to access their council secretariats.

The denial of access by the police to the secretariats is reported to be based on an order from Abuja. This development has led to a situation where the newly appointed CTC chairmen might have to operate from alternative locations, as suggested by Governor Fubara.

The issue is part of a larger political crisis in Rivers State, which also involves disputes over the tenure of local government chairmen and the composition of the state’s House of Assembly.
