Everton Lands Iroegbunam in £9M Deal.
Everton have completed the signing of midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa for a reported £9m. The 20-year-old England Under-20 international made 15 appearances in all competitions for Villa last season and spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Championship side QPR.
Iroegbunam has signed a deal until the end of June 2027 with Everton. The midfielder expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying: “Everton is an amazing club, a big club and I’m just really happy to join and I can’t wait to get started.”
Everton manager Sean Dyche also commented on the signing, saying: “We’re pleased to add Tim to our midfield options.”
The deal does not include Everton forward Lewis Dobbin heading in the opposite direction, although he is in advanced talks to join Villa in a separate transfer.
Iroegbunam, who was born in Great Barr, joined Aston Villa from West Brom in the summer of 2021. He enjoyed something of a first-team breakthrough under Steven Gerrard before featuring more prominently in the first team squad under Unai Emery.
The midfielder made 19 first-team appearances for Villa and spent last season out on loan at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, where he scored twice in 32 appearances.
Aston Villa need to raise funds to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) before the end of this month and have had to consider offers for their young talent.
Iroegbunam celebrated his 21st birthday on Sunday and posted a message on Instagram saying goodbye to Aston Villa. He thanked everyone at the club for making his Premier League debut and playing in Europe.
The signing of Iroegbunam is Everton’s first of the summer transfer window.
