We are ready to approve if President Tinubu request for a private jet say’s Godswill Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has indicated that the Senate would consider approving the purchase of a new presidential jet if President Bola Tinubu makes a request for it. However, Akpabio clarified that there is no request before the National Assembly for new presidential jets at this time.

In a statement, Akpabio said, “If his plane is bad, we will approve money for the repair of the plane. Those speculating know very well that maybe there is a problem with the presidential fleet and that they will go to the Parliament. There was nothing touching on plane or no plane, but I can tell you that when you hear stories such as the death of the Vice President of Malawi as a result of defective plane and then you hear stories such as the death of the President of Iran as a result of defective aircraft, we should never dream and allow such to be our portion, it will not be.”

Akpabio emphasized that the Senate will not hesitate to consider a request for the purchase of a new aircraft for the Presidential Fleet if it becomes necessary, especially in light of safety concerns. He also noted that any such request would be scrutinized based on necessity and national interest.

“We will look into issues that will benefit the governance of the country, irrespective of anticipated blackmail,” Akpabio said. “We care about the president and we care about the Nigerian people. We will approve things that will benefit the Nigerian people.”

Akpabio’s statement comes amid reports and speculations about a potential request for new presidential jets. However, he has made it clear that there is no such request at this time and that any decision on the matter would be based on the best interests of the nation.
