Nigeria Drawn in Group D for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers

In a draw held on July 4, 2024, the Super Eagles of Nigeria were placed in Group D for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The group includes familiar opponents Benin, Libya, and Rwanda. This draw sets the stage for an exciting series of matches as teams compete for a spot in the prestigious tournament.

Nigeria will face Benin, a team that recently defeated them 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Squirrels of Benin are currently managed by former Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr. The Bees of Rwanda are also in the same World Cup qualifying group with Nigeria, and they are scheduled to host the Super Eagles at the newly refurbished Amahoro Stadium in March 2025.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be the first in history that the tournament will kick off in December and run over the Christmas and New Year periods. The tournament will be played from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, following the decision of CAF to adjust the schedule of the tournament for the congested FIFA calendar.

Group D promises to be a challenging one for Nigeria, as they will need to navigate through tough opponents to secure their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The qualifiers will kick off in September and run through November 2025, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the tournament.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will need to bring their best performance to the field to overcome their opponents and secure their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Fans will be eagerly watching as the team embarks on this crucial qualifying campaign.
