Team Cook’N Bacon Serves Up Silver in Synchronized Diving at 2024 Paris Olympics

In a spectacular display of precision and synchronization, Team USA’s diving duo, Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook, secured the nation’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The pair, affectionately known as “Cook’N Bacon,” clinched the silver medal in the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard event, marking a significant achievement for American diving.

Bacon, 27, and Cook, 29, showcased their exceptional teamwork and skill, earning a total score of 314.64 points. Their performance was second only to the dominant Chinese team of Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen, who took home the gold with a score of 337.68. Great Britain’s Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen rounded out the podium, claiming the bronze medal with a score of 302.28.

For Bacon, this Olympic debut was a dream come true. “It’s just surreal,” she said. “To be able to make the Olympic team this time, and then also being able to do it in synchro with my best friend here at this Olympic Games, and then also walking away with the silver medal means I have no words to describe any of this.”

Cook, who competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics, made history as the first U.S. diver to compete in non-consecutive Games. “I’m just so proud of Sarah and myself for sticking together through all the ups and downs,” she said. “We’ve been friends since we were kids, and diving as a pair since 2019, so this medal means the world to us.”

The silver medal is a significant milestone for Team USA, as it marks their first medal in women’s synchronized springboard since 2012. The event has been dominated by Chinese teams, with six of the seven gold medals awarded since the event’s introduction in 2000 going to China.

The duo’s success is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the strong bond they share. “We’ve been through a lot together, and it’s just amazing to see all our hard work pay off,” Bacon said.
