Federal Government Launches Youth Stipend Program in Niger Delta

Tinubu Meets APC Governors Amid Nationwide Protest Plans

In a move aimed at alleviating economic hardships in the Niger Delta region, President Bola Tinubu has approved a monthly stipend of N50,000 for 10,000 youths. The payments will be made through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Youth Intensive Scheme and will last for an initial 12 months, with a possibility of extension.

The initiative, dubbed the “Youth Internship Scheme,” is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to cushion the impact of current economic challenges on young Nigerians in the Niger Delta. The scheme is designed to provide financial support to the youth, helping them meet their basic needs and reduce the burden of economic hardship.

According to the President’s spokesperson, the program is a response to the pressing economic issues faced by many young Nigerians in the region. It is hoped that the stipend will provide some relief and enable the beneficiaries to focus on personal development and skill acquisition.

The Youth Internship Scheme is set to commence soon, with the NDDC overseeing the disbursement of the funds. The program is expected to benefit a diverse group of young people from the Niger Delta, providing them with a much-needed financial boost.

As the nation grapples with economic challenges, the Federal Government’s decision to launch this initiative is a step in the right direction. It remains to be seen how the program will be implemented and whether it will achieve its intended goals. However, it is clear that the government is taking proactive measures to address the needs of the youth in the Niger Delta region.
