Surfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics: Schedule, Results, and More!
Surfing fans, get ready to ride the wave of excitement as the sport returns to the Olympic stage! After making its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, surfing is back for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and this time, the action will take place in the beautiful island of Tahiti, nearly 10,000 miles away from the French capital.
The surfing events will occur over four days in a 10-day window, from July 27 to August 5. The schedule includes Men’s Round 1, Women’s Round 1, Women’s Round 2, Men’s Round 2, Men’s Round 3, and Women’s Round 3. The medal finals are scheduled for July 30, but could take place as late as August 4, depending on the weather.
The surfing competition will feature some of the world’s top surfers, including reigning Olympic champion Carissa Moore, who will be taking a break from competitive surfing after these Olympic Games. She remains a gold-medal contender for the women’s competition, as do her two U.S. teammates, Caroline Marks and Lakey Peterson.
On the men’s side, both Americans in the field — John John Florence and Griffin Colapinto — are having incredible seasons on the World Surf League Championship Tour, but there are a number of top-level surfers, particularly from Brazil and Australia, in the mix as well.
The surfing events will be held on the beaches of Teahupo’o, which hosts one of the stages of the World Surf League. Teahupo’o is known for its challenging waves, which will test the skills and courage of the competing surfers.
If you’re looking to catch the surfing action live, be sure to tune in to NBC and stream on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms starting on Saturday, July 27. You can also access the full schedule and results on the NBC Olympics website.
