Barcelona Agree Terms With Nico Williams
Barcelona have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Neco Williams, the 22-year-old Welsh international, as they look to bolster their defense. This move comes as no surprise given the club’s recent focus on strengthening their squad with young, versatile talent.
Williams, who currently plays for Liverpool, has been on Barcelona’s radar for some time now. His ability to play as a right-back or a right-winger makes him an attractive prospect for the Catalan giants. With Sergi Roberto’s contract expiring soon and Sergiño Dest’s future uncertain, Barcelona are keen to secure a long-term replacement.
According to sources close to the club, Barcelona have reached an agreement with Williams on a five-year contract. The deal is said to be worth around €25 million, which includes a base fee of €20 million and €5 million in add-ons.
However, the transfer is not yet finalized, as Barcelona still need to negotiate with Liverpool. The English club are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to €30 million, but Barcelona are confident that a compromise can be reached.
If the deal goes through, Williams will become Barcelona’s first signing of the summer transfer window. The club are also rumored to be interested in other players, including a left-back and a central midfielder, as they look to rebuild under new coach Xavi Hernandez.
In other news, Barcelona have been linked with a move for Nico Williams, the younger brother of Inaki Williams. The Athletic Bilbao winger has impressed with his performances in La Liga and could provide competition for Ousmane Dembélé and Ansu Fati on the left wing. However, a deal for Nico Williams is considered less likely at this stage, with Barcelona prioritizing the signing of his brother.
