New York magazine has launched an investigation into its star Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi after she revealed a “personal” relationship with one of her reporting subjects, who turned out to be RFK Jr.
The 31-year-old writer was placed on leave on Thursday for “potentially damaging readers’ trust,” wrote her boss in a memo leaked by staffers and shared on X.
“Earlier this year, the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal,” Nuzzi admitted in a statement to her former employer, the Daily Beast. “During that time, I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source. The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict.”
Hines hasn’t officially commented on the latest news. On Instagram, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star adjusted her crown by showing off pictures of her all dolled up at the Emmys on Sunday, her niece the “perfect” date.
It’s unclear if the 58-year-old Miami Beach native knew the bomb was about to drop, but as per Page Six she’d already been warned by pals years ago about Jr.’s womanizing tendencies.
Will the digital dalliance be the final straw for this power couple? The relationship has already been reportedly rocked by at least one affair. Two months before they wed, the 70-year-old political scion was linked to NYC socialite Chelsea Chapman Kirwan.
And during their union, Hines has frequently had go into damage control mode: Her husband’s controversial stance on the COVID vaccine famously raised more than a few eyebrows. Most recently, disturbing stories have come to light about the former presidential candidate dumping a bear carcass in Central Park and decapitating a whale.
But perhaps the UCF alum will turn a blind eye yet again — until death do them part.
A little over a month ago, the comedic actress posted a snap of them from their wedding day (in the rain).
“You have given me a life I could’ve never imagined full of love, laughter, joy and adventure,” said the romantic homage. “In my darkest hours you bring me light. I love you.”
The thrice-married father of six denied any wrongdoing in the wake of this mess.
“Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,” his rep told NBC News.
