INEC Declares APC Monday Okpebholo Winner Of Edo Governorship Election With 291667 Votes

Monday Okpebholo, the Governor-elect of Edo State, is set to take office soon. Born on August 29, 1970, in Udomi-Uwessan community of Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria, Okpebholo has a strong educational background, having attended the University of Abuja where he earned a degree in Business Administration and later pursued a Master’s degree in Policy and Leadership Studies.

As a politician, Okpebholo has been a strong advocate for empowering women and youth, and his campaign focused on key areas such as agricultural development, youth empowerment, and rural infrastructure. He was elected as the senator representing Edo Central senatorial district in February 2023 and was inaugurated into the 10th National Assembly of Nigeria on June 13, 2023.

Okpebholo’s journey to the governorship began when he won the Edo State APC gubernatorial primary election in February 2024. He was later declared the winner of the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Early Life and Education

Okpebholo attended Udomi Community Primary School and Ujabhole Community Secondary School, both in Uwesan Irrua, Esan Central LGA. He completed his secondary education and obtained his senior school certificate in Jos, Plateau State.

Career

Okpebholo’s career in politics began when he contested for the Senate Seat in Edo Central senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was endorsed by Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, during his campaign.

Personal Life

Okpebholo is married to Blessing Okpapi Ekpe and together they have two children. He is a committed Christian and an active member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The exact date of Okpebholo’s swearing-in ceremony has not been announced yet. However, it is expected to take place soon, marking the beginning of his tenure as the Governor of Edo State.
