Tinubu arrives Brazil for G20 summit
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 2024 G20 summit, hosted by Brazilian President Lula da Silva. The summit’s theme, “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” will focus on three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental, as well as the reform of global governance.
Some key topics to be discussed at the summit include rising global temperatures and the principles of the digital economy. President Tinubu is accompanied by several ministers, including Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), and Hannatu Musawa (Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity).
The G20 summit brings together leaders from 19 member countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, and Indonesia. Other attending nations include Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, the UK, and the US.
