NEW PHOTOS RELEASED OF PERSON OF INTEREST IN UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO MURDER
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released new photos of a person of interest in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The photos, taken in the lobby of the HI New York City hostel, show a man smiling while lowering his face mask.
According to investigators, the person of interest is believed to have stayed at the hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, using a fake New Jersey identification card to check in. Employees at the hostel recall interacting with a man who almost always wore a mask and a jacket similar to the one spotted in CCTV photos.
“We’re asking anyone who may have seen this individual or has any information about his whereabouts to come forward,” said NYPD Commissioner, Edward Caban. “We’re committed to solving this case and bringing justice to the family of Brian Thompson.”
The investigation into Thompson’s murder has uncovered several clues, including a message scrawled on ammunition found at the crime scene, which reads “deny, defend, and depose” – a phrase used by insurance industry critics to describe tactics used to avoid paying claims. Additionally, investigators have recovered a cellphone from a pedestrian plaza through which the shooter fled, as well as a water bottle and protein bar wrapper from a trash can near the scene of the ambush.
A $10,000 reward has been announced for any information that leads to the capture and conviction of the suspect. The NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
“We’re grateful for the public’s help in this case,” said Commissioner Caban. “We’re confident that with the public’s assistance, we can bring this individual to justice and provide closure for the Thompson family.”
Anyone with information about the person of interest or the murder of Brian Thompson is urged to contact the NYPD at (212) 694-7781 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
