Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that he has no regrets in backing him during the 2023 presidential election. Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had thrown his weight behind Tinubu despite being from a different political party.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike emphasized that his decision to support Tinubu was motivated by his desire to see the people of Rivers State benefit from the administration.

“I have no regrets supporting President Tinubu,” Wike declared. “He has demonstrated love for Rivers State by appointing many sons and daughters of the state into his government. Rivers State has the highest number of political appointees in the current administration, and this is a testament to the president’s commitment to the state’s development.”

Wike’s comments were met with applause from the gathering, which included top government officials, traditional rulers, and party faithful. The minister’s support for Tinubu has been a subject of controversy, with some critics accusing him of betraying the PDP.

However, Wike has consistently maintained that his decision to back Tinubu was in the best interest of Rivers State. He has also praised the president’s leadership style, describing him as a “detribalized Nigerian” who is committed to the country’s progress.

WIKE ADDRESSES ALLEGATIONS OF LAND GRABBING

During the thanksgiving service, Wike also addressed allegations of land grabbing leveled against him. The minister dismissed the allegations as “laughable” and “politically motivated.”

“I am not a land grabber,” Wike said. “I have always acted in the best interest of Rivers State, and my record speaks for itself. Those who are making these allegations are simply trying to distract me from my duties as minister.”

Wike’s response was met with cheers and applause from the gathering, which included many of his supporters and allies.

Nyesom Wike’s reaffirmation of support for President Tinubu is a clear indication of his commitment to the administration’s policies and programs. Despite facing criticism from some quarters, Wike remains resolute in his decision to back Tinubu, citing the president’s commitment to Rivers State’s development as a key factor. As the minister continues to work closely with the president, it is likely that Rivers State will continue to benefit from the administration’s policies and programs.
