Eligibility and Selection Process
The FALA is open to African youths between the ages of 16 and 23 who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and community service. To be eligible, applicants must submit an entry on the Future Africa Leaders Foundation’s website, detailing their community service projects and leadership achievements.
A rigorous selection process follows, involving a review of entries, verification, and shortlisting until the final 10 winners are chosen. The selection process is based on several criteria, including the impact of the applicant’s community service project, their leadership skills, and their potential to make a positive difference in their community.
Awards and Recognition
Each of the 10 winners will receive a grant of $10,000, which will be used to support their community service projects. An outstanding winner will also receive an additional $25,000. The award ceremony, hosted by Pastor Chris Oyekhilome, will take place on December 31, with all recipients in attendance.
Past Winners and Impact
Since its inception in 2013, the Future African Leaders Award has recognized 110 youths from 28 African countries, providing a total of $1.35 million in grants. Past winners have made significant contributions to their communities, addressing issues such as education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
One past winner, for example, established a school for underprivileged children in her community, while another developed a mobile app to provide healthcare services to rural communities. These are just a few examples of the many positive impacts that FALA winners have made in their communities.
