OBIO/AKPOR LGA CHAIRMAN, AMB IHUNWO CHIJIKE, APOLOGIZES TO DR. PETER ODILI AND HIS WIFE FOR INSULTS DIRECTED AT THEM BY FCT MINISTER, NYESOM EZENWO WIKE
In a surprising turn of events, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Amb Ihunwo Chijioke, has issued a public apology to Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary Odili, for insults directed at them by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The apology comes amidst a heated political dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. Chijioke, who has been a vocal supporter of Governor Fubara, stated that he was compelled to apologize to the Odilis due to the respect and admiration he has for the couple.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologize to Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary Odili, for the insults directed at them by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike,” Chijioke said in a statement. “As the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, I am committed to upholding the values of respect, dignity, and decorum. The insults directed at the Odilis are unacceptable and do not reflect the values of our people.”
Chijioke’s apology has been seen as a bold move, given his association with Governor Fubara and his previous criticisms of Wike. However, the Obio/Akpor LGA Chairman maintained that his apology was genuine and necessary.
“I am not apologizing for political expediency,” Chijioke said. “I am apologizing because it is the right thing to do. Dr. Peter Odili and Justice Mary Odili are respected members of our community, and they deserve our respect and admiration.”
The apology has been welcomed by many, who see it as a step towards healing the rifts caused by the political dispute. However, others have questioned Chijioke’s motives, suggesting that the apology may be a tactical move to gain political advantage.
Regardless of the motivations behind the apology, one thing is clear: Amb Ihunwo Chijioke has taken a bold step towards promoting peace and reconciliation in the midst of a heated political dispute.
