10 WOUNDED IN MASS SHOOTING OUTSIDE QUEENS NIGHTCLUB
A chaotic scene unfolded outside a Queens nightclub on Wednesday night, leaving 10 young people wounded in a mass shooting. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the Amazura concert hall, located at 91-12 144th Place in Jamaica, Queens.
According to police, at least three gunmen opened fire on a crowd of about 15 people waiting outside the club. Witnesses described the scene as “pandemonium” as the shots rang out, with people screaming and running for cover.
“It was like a war zone,” said one witness, who wished to remain anonymous. “I saw people falling to the ground, and I just ran as fast as I could.”
The victims, six females and four males aged 16 to 20, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the victims were taken to various hospitals in the area, including Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Queens Hospital.
The suspects, described as four young men, fled the scene in a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates. Police are still searching for them and are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
“We are actively investigating this incident, and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” said Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera. “We will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice.”
The NYPD has assured the public that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack. The police department’s Emergency Service Unit and canine units were deployed to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The Amazura concert hall was hosting a “celebration of life” event for a man murdered three months ago. Police said the event was not licensed, and the club’s management is cooperating with the investigation.
“We condemn the senseless violence that occurred outside our venue last night,” said a spokesperson for the Amazura concert hall. “We are working closely with the NYPD to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
The incident has left the community in shock, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
“This is a wake-up call for all of us,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. “We need to come together as a community to address the root causes of violence and ensure that our young people are safe.”
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
