A fresh controversy has erupted in the political landscape of Rivers State, with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing former Governor Peter Odili of supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s alleged disobedience to the president Tinubu.

Wike, who has been at loggerheads with Odili over political differences, made the accusation while addressing a gathering of party supporters in Port Harcourt. According to Wike, Odili’s actions are a clear indication of his disdain for Tinubu and his determination to undermine his presidential ambitions.

“Odili is supporting Fubara’s disobedience to Tinubu because he is envious of my political success,” Wike alleged. “He is bitter because he couldn’t achieve the same level of success during his time as governor.”

Wike’s accusation has sparked a heated debate in the state, with many calling for Odili to respond to the allegations. However, the former governor has maintained a dignified silence, choosing not to engage with Wike’s claims.

The Concerned Elders of Rivers State have since weighed in on the controversy, demanding an apology from Wike for his utterances against Odili. In a statement, the elders described Wike’s behavior as unbecoming and disrespectful to a respected elder statesman.

“We condemn Wike’s utterances against Odili in the strongest terms,” the statement read. “Odili is a respected elder statesman who has served this state with distinction. Wike’s behavior is unbecoming and disrespectful, and we demand an apology from him.”

The elders also commended Odili for his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his decision to step down as a presidential candidate in 2007.

“Odili’s loyalty to the PDP is unwavering, and his decision to step down as a presidential candidate in 2007 is a testament to his commitment to the party’s ideals,” the statement added.

As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the situation will play out. One thing is certain, however: the political landscape of Rivers State has become increasingly complex, with alliances and rivalries shifting by the day.
