WIKE CAN’T SURVIVE IN PEACEFUL ENVIRONMENT, SAYS ODILI’S EX-COMMISSIONER
A former Commissioner for Works and Water Resources in Rivers State, David Briggs, has launched a scathing attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Briggs, who served under former Governor Peter Odili’s administration, claimed that Wike cannot survive in a peaceful environment and that he thrives on discord and conflict.
According to Briggs, Wike’s political success is largely due to Odili’s support and influence. He revealed that Odili intervened to ensure Wike’s re-election as Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, and that Odili’s wife also played a role in Wike’s political ascent.
“Wike’s rise to power was facilitated by Peter Odili,” Briggs said in an interview. “Odili’s wife, Justice Mary Odili, also played a significant role in Wike’s emergence as the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. Wike has never hidden his disdain for Odili, despite the fact that Odili paved the way for his political success.”
Briggs also accused Wike of inciting political crises to maintain his relevance, and of being unable to function in a peaceful setting. He criticized Wike’s comments about Odili as disrespectful and insulting to the people of Rivers State.
“Wike’s modus operandi is to create chaos and crisis wherever he goes,” Briggs said. “He cannot survive in a peaceful environment, and that’s why he’s always inciting trouble. His comments about Odili are not only disrespectful but also insulting to the people of Rivers State, who hold Odili in high esteem.”
The former commissioner’s comments are the latest salvo in the ongoing feud between Wike and Odili. The two politicians have been at odds for several years, with Wike repeatedly criticizing Odili’s administration and Odili’s allies firing back at Wike.
The rivalry between Wike and Odili has significant implications for Rivers State politics, with both men wielding considerable influence in the state. While Wike’s tactics have yielded him significant political power, his approach has also alienated many of his former allies and created divisions within the state’s ruling party.
As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether Wike’s approach will continue to yield political gains, or if his tactics will ultimately be his downfall.
REACTIONS FROM RIVERS STATE POLITICIANS
Politicians in Rivers State have reacted to Briggs’ comments, with some defending Wike and others criticizing his approach.
“Wike is a brilliant politician who has achieved great things for Rivers State,” said a Wike ally, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Briggs’ comments are just a desperate attempt to distract from Wike’s achievements.”
However, others have criticized Wike’s approach, saying that it has created divisions within the state’s ruling party.
“Wike’s tactics have created a lot of tension and division within our party,” said a prominent Rivers State politician, who also spoke on condition of anonymity. “We need to find a way to unite our party and work towards the common good, rather than allowing personal interests to divide us.”
