Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer Sounds Alarm on DOGE’s Influence on Executive Branch

Trump Appoints Elon Musk Department Of Government Efficiency

Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic Leader, has expressed strong concerns about DOGE, a group led by billionaire Elon Musk, and its influence on the executive branch. Schumer stated, “The American people will not stand for an un-elected secret group to run rampant through the executive branch. Being innovative is good, but Mr. Musk, this isn’t a tech startup. These are public institutions.”

Schumer’s remarks come after DOGE gained access to the Treasury Department’s entire system of payments, including Social Security and Medicare benefits and Americans’ tax refunds. Additionally, DOGE staffers executed what Schumer described as an “illegal seizure” of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), halting the organization’s critical humanitarian and security efforts.

Schumer emphasized that the American people will not tolerate an unelected group undermining the democratic process and public institutions. He urged Republicans in Congress to join Democrats in taking action to restore the rule of law and prevent potential lawbreaking by DOGE.
