Plane Crash Near Washington, D.C. Leaves 64 Feared Dead

A dramatic incident unfolded at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon when a Delta Air Lines plane overturned while landing, leaving 18 people injured. The incident occurred amidst windy conditions following a snowstorm, and fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Details of the Incident

The plane, a CRJ900 aircraft operated by Endeavor Air, was flying from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with 80 passengers and four crew members on board. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the plane landing sideways and then flipping over.

“I was on the plane, and it was like a rollercoaster,” said one passenger. “We landed, and then the plane just flipped over. It was terrifying.”

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and all 18 injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals. Two people were airlifted to trauma centers, and a child was transported to a children’s hospital.

“The response from the emergency services was incredible,” said a witness. “They were on the scene so quickly, and they did an amazing job of getting everyone to safety.”

Investigation Underway

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation into the incident, with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. The cause of the crash is still unknown, but officials have attributed the lack of fatalities to the quick response of first responders and the plane’s safety features.

“We are working closely with our Canadian and American partners to determine the cause of this incident,” said a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. “We will do everything in our power to ensure that this type of incident does not happen again.”

Reaction from Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines has issued a statement expressing their concern for the injured passengers and thanking the emergency responders for their quick action.

“We are deeply concerned about the incident at Toronto Pearson Airport and are working closely with the authorities to investigate,” said a spokesperson for Delta Air Lines. “Our thoughts are with the injured passengers, and we are grateful for the quick response of the emergency services.”

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of air travel, but officials have stressed that such incidents are rare and that air travel remains one of the safest modes of transportation.
