Miracle at Toronto Airport: Delta Plane Crash-Lands, All Passengers and Crew Survive

A private jet having about 10 persons onboard including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has crash-landed in Ibadan

A dramatic scene unfolded at Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17, 2025, when a Delta Air Lines plane crash-landed on the runway, flipping upside down. Despite the severity of the incident, all 80 passengers and crew members survived, with 18 people injured, including three in critical condition.

The plane, a Bombardier CRJ900, was operating as Flight 579 from New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Eyewitnesses described the moment of impact, saying the plane touched down hard on the runway before flipping over.

“It was like a loud thud, and then the plane just flipped over,” said one witness. “It was like something out of a movie.”

Footage from the scene shows the plane’s wreckage, with the aircraft resting upside down and smoke billowing from the fuselage. Passengers can be seen evacuating the plane, some stumbling away from the wreckage.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but reports suggest that the plane experienced a flap actuator failure, leading to a hard landing and the subsequent overturning of the aircraft.

“We are grateful that everyone on board survived this incident,” said a spokesperson for Delta Air Lines. “Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and we are cooperating fully with the investigation.”

The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety, and investigators will be working to determine the exact cause of the crash.

“We take incidents like this very seriously,” said a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. “We will be conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of this incident and to identify any safety issues that may need to be addressed.”

As the investigation continues, passengers and crew members are being praised for their bravery and quick thinking during the emergency.

“It’s a miracle that everyone survived,” said one passenger. “We were all shaken up, but we’re just grateful to be alive.”

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of aviation safety and the need for continued vigilance in ensuring the safety of passengers and crew members.

In the meantime, Delta Air Lines has announced that it will be providing support to those affected by the incident, including counseling and medical assistance.

“We are committed to supporting our passengers and crew members during this difficult time,” said the Delta spokesperson. “We will do everything in our power to ensure their well-being and safety.”
