Hunter Schafer's Passport Changed to Reflect Male Gender Despite Identifying as Trans Woman

Hunter Schafer, the talented actress from the hit HBO series “Euphoria,” recently shared a shocking and frustrating update on her passport. Despite identifying as a trans woman, her new passport lists her gender as male, courtesy of Donald Trump’s two-gender executive order.

Schafer Speaks Out

Schafer took to TikTok to express her disappointment and frustration, stating, “I don’t give a fuck that they put an ‘M’ on my passport. It doesn’t change anything about me or my trans-ness, however it does make life a little harder”. She emphasized that this change won’t define her identity or affect her commitment to being a trans woman.

“The letter on my passport doesn’t change who I am. It doesn’t change my identity. It doesn’t change my trans-ness,” Schafer said. “But what it does do is make my life a little bit harder. It makes it a little bit more difficult for me to travel. It makes it a little bit more difficult for me to exist in this world.”

Trump’s Two-Gender Executive Order

The executive order, signed by Trump, declares only two genders recognized by the state: male and female, assigned at birth. This policy has been widely criticized by the LGBTQ+ community and allies, who argue that it erases the identities of trans and non-binary individuals.

Schafer’s Experience Highlights Challenges Faced by Trans Individuals

Schafer’s experience highlights the challenges faced by trans individuals under this administration. She noted that this change might lead to more frequent encounters with border patrol agents, making her life more difficult.

“I’m going to have to deal with border patrol agents who are going to look at my passport and see an ‘M’ and then look at me and see a trans woman,” Schafer said. “And that’s going to be a problem. That’s going to be a problem for me, and it’s going to be a problem for so many other trans people.”

Schafer Remains Defiant

Despite the setback, Schafer remains defiant, asserting, “Trans people are beautiful. We are never going to stop existing. I’m never going to stop being trans, a letter on a passport can’t change that, and fuck this administration”.

Schafer’s courage and resilience in the face of adversity are an inspiration to many, and her story serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and respecting the identities of all individuals, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
